    1. Much easier to read than anything by Marx. Perhaps it’s because Smith was never subjected to the pernicious influence of Hegel.

      1. It probably has more to do with the abilities of the translators. (I’m assuming here that you didn’t read Marx or Hegel in the original.) I have had a lot of experience in turning the unbelievably convoluted sentences of German writers into comprehensible English. There were instances when I spent a half hour on a single sentence.
