The (New Normal) War on Domestic Terror

I’m ambivalent about this writer. I disagree with his argument that Covid is a hoax or that the danger is exaggerated. I think he’s spot on about how the ruling class is using Covid to institute more repression. So I guess I’ll just say that if Covid didn’t exist the ruling class would have to invent it.

If you enjoyed the Global War on Terror, you’re going to love the new War on Domestic Terror! It’s just like the original Global War on Terror, except that this time the “Terrorists” are all “Domestic Violent Extremists” (“DVEs”), “Homegrown Violent Extremists” (“HVEs”), “Violent Conspiracy-Theorist Extremists” (“VCTEs”), “Violent Reality Denialist Extremists” (VRDEs”), “Insurrectionary Micro-Aggressionist Extremists” (“IMAEs”), “People Who Make Liberals Feel Uncomfortable” (“PWMLFUs”), and anyone else the Department of Homeland Security wants to label an “extremist” and slap a ridiculous acronym on.

According to a “National Terrorism Advisory System Bulletin” issued by the DHS on January 27, these DCEs, HVEs, VCTEs, VRDEs, IMAEs, and PWMLFUs are “ideologically-motivated violent extremists with objections to the exercise of governmental authority” and other “perceived grievances fueled by false narratives.” They are believed to be “motivated by a range of issues, including anger over Covid-19 restrictions, the 2020 election results, police use of…

  1. The article made me laugh out loud, something I don’t have a chance to do much anymore. I don’t seem to fit into any of the categories, but I do see a concerted move toward mind control by those who think they have something to gain by it.

I’ve been following this coronavirus panic-demic since it first hit the spotlight, because of my medical background and my interests in mass psychology, and I have trouble teasing out the relevant facts from the hype and conflicting information.

I do know coronavirus was in my 1985 medical school texts, and at that time it was responsible for about 20 percent of common colds. Since then, testing has become more widespread and the US population, at least, has gotten older. Also US Americans are notoriously unhealthy, in lifestyles and diet and are probably among the sickliest people on the planet, despite one of the most expensive health care systems in the world.

The paranoia surrounding this panic-demic of coronavirus seems ludicrous to me, because in most cases it is so mild as to be asymptomatic. It’s nothing like the bubonic plague, which wiped out a third of Europe in the 1300s. Nor is it as bad as the flu epidemic of 1918-19, which struck in concert with World War I, when so many people were subjected to disastrous war time conditions, including lack of food, shelter, and a multiplicity of traumatic injuries.

The whole idea of “social distancing” and the condemnation of large gatherings directly violates the US Constitution’s guarantee of the right to assemble peacefully. No wonder we are seeing massive protests around the world, as well as an upsurge in drug addiction and suicides.

Man, for all his faults, is a social animal, so the lockdowns and other efforts to keep people apart and to repress or condemn their social urges , are misguided and will probably do more harm than good.

    1. Back in the 1970s when I was a kid I would get a mild “cold” very Spring. These days I usually get a mild case of “the flu.” Since Covid (and social distancing) I haven’t had anything. The “Spanish Influenza” would more appropriately be called “The Great War Influenza” since it would remind people how easy a pandemic can spread when you’ve got army camps all over Europe.

      1. Absolutely. I was just journaling today about how the Spanish flu coincided with World War I, when everyone was debilitated by war, poor nutrition, and unsanitary living conditions. I also read an interesting statistic in “Current Psychiatry” that the number of people in the US infected with Covid-19 is three percent, but those infected with the flu a century ago was 30%. Also, global deaths from Covid-19 stood (in November, 2020) at1.3 million worldwide, but with the 1918 flu, it was 50 million worldwide, and 675,000 in the US.

You won’t see this in the media, but I suspect this Covid-19 thing will lead to a healthy re-set of US attitudes, a general slow-down in the frenzy of rush-rush, and a greater appreciation for the things that make life worth living.

        1. The odd thing about the Spanish Influenza though is that it killed more young, healthy people than older, sicker people. It actually mobilized your own immune system against you. The stronger your immune system, the more likely you were to die. Covid seems to be the opposite. It emptied out most of the nursing homes in New Jersey and New York. Young people will usually survive it but with a big “but.” How much permanent damage to their respiratory system will it cause?

  2. Being a mere ‘liberal’ must be just soooo convenient. You get to spout positions with not a shred of supporting evidence. Like this fabricated virus hysteria. None of the long established standards of scientific evidence have been met to sustain the opinion that there is in fact a specific virus in play. And the parties who claim there is refuse to debate the subject.

You don’t know the first thing about the subject. Your ‘opinion’ is just liberal hyperbole. How about that over-ampted PCR fake-test? Do you have a factual rebuttal to the mountain of evidence that it’s being used to produce false positives? How about the ridiculous proposition that these stupid masks provide any productive benefits? It might actually take some courage – given the liberal fascist assault on free speech to just permit an intelligent debate on the matter.

Happily, you liberals are trapped in a crisis you can’t get out of. You’ve locked down society, imposed harm and ruin up and down the line and there’s no way out. So, we will just go on from one imposition to another until finally folks rise up and hang the lot of you from proverbial lamposts.

You are an apologist for the Regime.Consent Factory is a resolute opponent. There’s the line. You take your side and live with it.

    1. I had this same discussion with my mother 4 years ago. She insisted on going to a family reunion during flu season. I cautioned her that it would be full of kids (and an invisible virus). In the end, I gave in.

Of course both of us got the flu. I was flat on my back for a week. She died.

So don’t mind me if I find the idea of “flu like symptoms” a little more troubling than you do. I have no desire to test out the hypothesis of whether or not Covid is a deadly new reality or “just the flu” on my own body.

  3. In this age of medical chronicity e.g. 40% of Americans are obese, the issue is that people are so unhealthy they cannot sustain the added insult of a cold or influenza. Why not lockdown high fructose corn syrup or trans-fat vegetable oils? Given your criteria everybody, everywhere at all times should be locked down. Because there is always, always something going around. Whenever, if ever this foolishness ends it won’t be because there are are no ‘bugs’ in play. And, why ever should free and rational debate on this matter to be subject to censorship, sanctions and enforcement threats? Wall Street and Big Pharma are looting up while liberals do the donkey work of making this evil possible.

Biden and Fauci tried to bully Florida governor DeSantis into tightening that state’s lockdown. DeSantis told them to “go fuck themselves”. Much of the British population are thinking along the same line towards BoJo. The vast harm this insanity is inflicting is not sustainable. Those responsible for perpetrating it must be brought to book.

    1. I don’t know if I buy your logic that if you just go to the gym you won’t get sick. There’s no real connection between athletic ability and resistance to the influenza virus.

You sound a lot like you’re slouching towards some sort of eugenicist thinking. Get back to work peasants. If you die, well then you probably deserved it you fat slob.

And didn’t DeSantis send in stormtroopers to brutalize a scientist who tried to make the data public right in front of her kids? I don’t know if he’s the victim here.

  4. I didn’t mention ‘athletic ability’. Such has no bearing on the topic. But the degree to which a population is burdened by chronic disease – such as which accumulates from eating crap food and toxic drugs – that profoundly disposes one to the insults I mentioned.

You throw about the lingo of liberal fascism quite casually. To those of us on the serious left wing, you are definitely an enemy in the service of the state.

    1. Your own words prove you wrong.

In this age of medical chronicity e.g. 40% of Americans are obese, the issue is that people are so unhealthy they cannot sustain the added insult of a cold or influenza.

You are speaking in the language of eugenics while tossing around accusations of “fascism.” A virus really couldn’t care less whether you’re Michael Jordan or Tom Brady or Chris Christie. And of course you leave out the fact that Christie survived Covid even though he’s over 50 and obese. Wouldn’t want to mention class or inequitable medical care where the rich have access to the latest treatments the poor don’t, would we?

Those corporations whose interests you’re defending aren’t your friends. You may be in favor of pushing teachers back into classroom or of bullying Amazon warehouse workers back into their disease infested ratholes by labeling Covid a “hoax.” You may be in favor of telling the peasants to go back to work and die but spare me the fake outrage.

The only solution is to lock down until everybody’s vaccinated and I really couldn’t care less whether or not a right wing fraud like you approves of it.
